MaaDisha Shampoo9 Ayurvedic Hair Treatment Review

I have been using MaaDisha’s Shampoo9 for some time now, and wanted to share it with you. I switch hair, beauty, and body products a lot because I’m always trying new things. Its rare for me to find something that I insist on sticking with! However, Shampoo9 has become my “holy grail” of shampoo. Like all MaaDisha products, Shampoo9 is an all-natural treat. With a formula based on Ayurvedic principles (you can read more about Ayurveda in my review of MaaDisha’s Soap 5, here), this shampoo combines carefully selected natural ingredients that each provide a different nourishing component. Gooseberry and Soap Nuts cleanse the hair and scalp of excess oils, while Henna and Neem extracts condition and revitalize the hair. Totally chemical free, Shampoo9 is so cleansing, gentle, and moisturizing that it completely eliminates the need for conditioner. I really love streamlining my hair care routine, and this product helps do just that. To use it, you massage just a few drops (I really mean just a few drops!) into your scalp, let it sit, and then rinse. The product has very little lather, but really does its job. It has a pleasant, slightly minty and herbaceous scent. At 30 dollars a bottle, Shampoo9 is certainly more expensive than other shampoos.. but because of how little you need per shampooing, it is actually a great value. I have very long and thick hair and usually need an entire handful of other shampoos to wash my hair. I’ve been using the same bottle of Shampoo9 for about 3 months now. This is a great product to switch to if you want to “green up” your hair care routine, and eliminate chemicals. The plant based, thoughtful formula is really appealing to me. I love this shampoo, my hair and scalp are decidedly healthier since I started using it. You can find it at MaaDisha.com

Do you use any all-natural or Ayurvedic products?

Ayurvedic Tips For Radiant Skin

Glowing skin is a sign of  good health inside out.  Environmental reasons (like change of seasons), age and lack of good health contribute to unhealthy and irritated skin.

To cover the basics Ayurveda recommends loads of high water content veggies (carrots/ radish/asparagus to name a few), as well as vitamin A and C loaded fruits (oranges/ blueberries) as antioxidants promote and protect collagen giving skin a radiant glow.

Sweating out the toxins via yoga and exercise on regular basis is also recommended. Face massages with any warm essential oils will help for healthy circulation.

If nothing else, stay hydrated. breathe. meditate. This is sure to work for all skin types!

For dry skin:

1. Massage your face with clarified butter (ghee) and almond oil before going to bed. Wash it off with tepid water the next morning

2. Every household should have an aloe vera plant as it has multi medicinal uses. Fresh aloe gel/juice when applied leaves the skin radiant.

3. While honey moisturizes and soothes dry skin it also has anti aging properties.  Cut a lemon or a lime into one1/2.  Add a few drops of honey directly and massage gently onto your face in circular motions.  Wash it off after 15 minutes.

4. Avoid sun exposure.

For oily skin:

1. Add egg white to a few drops of honey and apply as a face mask and wash it off after 10 to 15 minutes.

2. Grind mint leaves in lemon juice and apply as a face mask for 10 to 15 minutes and then wash it with tepid water.

3. Grind cucumber and apply as a cooling mask.  Wash it after 10 to 15 minutes.

4. Drink warm water with lemon juice in it as often as you can to flush out the toxins.

For all skin types:

1. For moisturizing Add equal quantities of milk/glycerin and rose water.  Apply overnight and wash it off in the morning.

2. Make a paste of clarified butter/pinch of turmeric and table spoon of ground oatmeal.  Apply it as face mask and wash it off after 10 to 15 minutes.

MaaDisha Soap5 Ayurvedic Organic Soap Review By BeautyGnome

The International Beauty Show was a great experience for many reasons, but one of the main reasons was because of the amazing people we got to talk to and share our products with. Beauty blogger Jessica, of the popular blog BeautyGnome, stopped by our booth and talked to us about her knowledge of organic products. We have her some samples of our Ayurvedic Soap5’s and this is the review that she gave us.

Please note that we ask all reviewers to be completely honest about our products. The more feedback we get the better we can make our products.

MaaDisha Soap5 Ayurvedic Organic Soap Review

Up for review today is Soap5- the line of all-natural, ayurvedic soaps by MaaDisha. What does “Ayurvedic”mean, you ask? According to the MaaDisha website, all of their products are “based on Ayurvedic principles, which focus on the balancing of the three life forces/energies (the three doshas: Vatta, Pitta, and Kapha)”
According to Wikipedia (Hey, I’m not in school anymore- I can use Wikipedia as a source!!) a “Dosha” is:
"one of three bodily humors that make up one’s constitution according to Ayurveda. These teachings are also known as the Tridosha system.
The central concept of Ayurvedic medicine is the theory that health exists when there is a balance between three fundamental bodily humours or doshas called Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
  • Vāta or Vāyu (wind) is the impulse principle necessary to mobilize the function of the nervous system. It affects the windy humour, flatulence, gout, rheumatism, etc.[1]
  • Pitta (bile) is the bilious humour, or that secreted between the stomach and bowels and flowing through the liver and permeating spleen, heart, eyes, and skin; its chief quality is heat.[2] It is the energy principle which uses bile to direct digestion and hence metabolism into the venous system.
  • Kapha (phlegm) is the body fluid principle which relates to mucous, lubrication and the carrier of nutrients into the arterial system.
All Ayurvedic physicians believe that these ancient ideas, based in the knowledge discovered by the Rishis and Munis, exist in harmony with physical reality.”
Ok, after that little venture into Ayurvedic research I think we are primed and ready to talk about this soap! Like I mentioned, these soaps are all-natural and organic. They have a very simple, wholesome list of ingredients which is something I really like. The three soaps- Orange, Neem, and Lavender, all share the same base ingredients: Sunflower oil, safflower oil, palm oil, coconut oil, aloe, lime essential oils, and turmeric. Each soap is made different by the addition of ingredients that read like a menu from an exotic eastern apothecary! Orange essential oils, lavender essential oils, comfrey roots, neem, wild ginger, olive oil, and holy basil oil are chosen for their healing and nourishing properties and added to their respective soaps.

All three have a subtle, natural fragrance. The neem soap is the most subtle of the three, the orange soap has the brightest and freshest fragrance, and the lavender soap has the strongest (yet still subtle) scent. The lavender soap is my favorite, the scent is natural and relaxing without being overwhelming. What I also like is that unlike some bath products, these have no “chemical-ly” or overpowering fragrances… because they are made without chemicals!
These soaps all have a really creamy lather, and they leave the skin feeling clean yet moisturized. I felt like they did not strip my skin of all its natural oils. I love natural, organic products… especially when they are efficacious! These soaps fulfill that requirement. I also love the idea behind these soaps, that they are based on Ayurvedic principles meant to optimize health and vitality.
These soaps are available at maadisha.com

International Beauty Show Recap

We had such an exciting and amazing experience at this year’s International Beauty Show hosted at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC. The show lasted 3 days, April 22-24, and was MaaDisha’s first major trade show!

IBS was crawling with beauty professionals and students learning about the newest products and offerings in their industry. The event served as a wonderful platform for us to educate visitors about our line of organic and Ayurvedic soaps and hair products.

Overall we had a wonderful response. One salon professional even stated that we were “the cleanest organic” she had seen at the show. Coming from someone that knows organic products, this was quite the compliment!

Our favorite part of the show would have to be having the opportunity to meet and talk to some amazing people. We hope everyone enjoyed learning more about our products. We urge you if you purchased product from us to visit our website and let us know what you think!

Please visit our Facebook page to see more photos from the show.

Here are three ways you can use argan oil!

Hair: Once out of the shower, towel dry your hair until damp. Put one or two pumps onto your fingers and spread the oil in your hair from root to tip. Blow dry your hair, or let air dry, and embrace the shine!

Nails: Clean nails. Combine lemon juice and argan oil into a small dish. Place your fingers in and let them soak for ten minutes. Your nails will come out shiny and strong.

Skin: Rub in small portions of argan oil on areas of the skin. This oil absorbs quickly leaving behind no oily residue, so you do not need a large amount. Smooth wrinkles, aid dry skin, or add to non-troubled areas for an added shine.
